About Us

What We Do

Sweet dog ready to be adopted sitting in front of the Cuyahoga County animal shelter.

CCAS provides a temporary home to dogs that are lost or stray. Dogs stay at our shelter for a minimum of 72 hours for their owners to reclaim. If not reclaimed, dogs can be adopted or transferred to partner agencies.

We are the dog licensing authority for Cuyahoga County. All owned dogs are required to be licensed each year in Ohio, and wear their license. Dog owners can buy their pet a dog license directly from our website.
